ABOUT US
You should know who you're working with
Municipal Alpha is two people and a product that reads the public record of thousands of local governments every day. The product does the reading. We do the listening: learning how your organization works and making sure what reaches you fits it.
Matt MacDonald
FOUNDER · PORTLAND, MAINE
Matt built Municipal Alpha. He has spent nearly three decades building data products from fragmented, unstructured sources at scale: first in the early web, then in audio, now in public records. He first tried to make town documents readable with NearbyFYI more than a decade ago.
- Chief Product Officer at Acast, through its NASDAQ listing
- Co-founder of RadioPublic, later acquired by Acast
- Chief Product Officer at PRX
- Embedded at the Roux Institute, Northeastern University
Christian Milz
PARTNER
Christian is a partner at Municipal Alpha. At Acast, where he and Matt worked together, he ran product and data teams at large scale, in people and in data. He is usually the first person you'll talk to, and the one who stays with you until the work is running.

- Partner at Municipal Alpha since August 2026
